About
The mission of CA School of Excellence is to provide assistance, encouragement and support to parents choosing to teach their own children. We believe that homeschooling is the absolute best education a parent can possibly provide.
CA School of Excellence does not provide classes, tutor, manufacture a curriculum of it's own, or require the use of any specific one. Every child has their own learning style, interests, strengths and areas needing improvement. Parents choose and purchase their own curriculum materials, supplies and learning approach. Those needing extra help with doing this, may take advantage of customized program development.
CA School of Excellence families base curriculum upon Section 51210 of CA Education Code, Course of Study Requirements of California Private Schools.
In addition to teaching, parents are responsible for documenting their child's progress and keeping daily attendance. In keeping with state law, CA School of Excellence homeschooling families are required to hold school 180 days each year. We help everyone stay on track by maintaining and up-dating student cumulative records on a regular basis. Families turn in a complete, detailed report at the end of each year. Grades are turned in twice during the school year.
We encourage parents to nurture their child's special interests, and talents. Part of the beauty of homeschooling is providing children with opportunities and resources to explore, nurture and develop special interests, or talents. These could be: theatre, acting, dance, ballet, studio art, improvisation, martial arts, chorus, field biology, athletic team sports, chess, debate, etc.
We believe cultural, traditional beliefs and values are a core, essential part of a superior education. While CA School of Excellence does not ascribe to any particular religion or moral approach, we support and encourage homeschooling families to make their own particular faith traditions part of their child's educational experience.
